In May 2025, you could buy 16 GB of DDR5 RAM in India for Rs 3,000-4,000. As of today, the same has gone up to Rs 20,000 — almost a 5-fold jump in retail price.

The silver lining is CXMT and YMTC’s capacity coming online. Apparently, you can now source 16 GB of DDR5 RAM at $138 (approx. Rs 13,800), which is still 30% cheaper than current DDR5 prices in India.

My gut feeling is that companies capable of making HBM will divert more wafers toward HBM production, leaving others to fill the demand for normal RAM. It’s going to be interesting to see the whole capacity-vs-prices cycle play out again.

Has anyone build a web page that tracks capacity , shipped , sales , selling price across the handful of memory companies ?

The Nvidia/Hugging Face and Phison NAND items side by side make the point well. One is a growth bet, the other is framed as a supply problem, but both get called part of the "AI buildout" story. I wrote about how "shortage" gets used as a label rather than an explanation for what is really pricing power in memory right now, curious what you both make of that framing given how you covered Phison's 2027 warning.
